NOTION MAGAZINE NEW MUSIC AWARDS NOMINATION FOR BEST NEW JAZZ/ FUNK/ SOUL
This nomination was a complete surprise when it came in, and it made me feel really proud of the (baby) steps I am taking in my career, with two new singles out and two more to come, to complete my debut EP 'Mother's Arms'. This music really feels like me, a sound which feels right, and an attempt to start to tell my story, for the first time, really. I'll always remember the process of making this record fondly.

'Not for me' LYRICS
‘Not For Me’ is a song about one of the darkest periods in my life. I didn’t know that I’d make it out of the other end, but I did. This song has evolved with me. This is a song about learning who you are and how to say no. 12 stories high, views of the city, All the streets they seem to turn the wrong way Faces blur, through the bottom of the glass Who have I become under this glitter mask? Hedonism, malbec wine, Dark red overcame my mind Still, I’m, led by, the line… Round

'not for me' is yours
'Not For Me' - Out Wednesday 12th November 2025, with Ripe Records. This is the second single from Ni Maxine's debut EP, 'Mother's Arms', which is out in March 2026. 'Not For Me’ is a soul-soaked reflection that moves through late teen chaos and addiction. Anchored by a walking double-bass and a loose, soulful groove with the wisdom of age and sobriety, the track balances ache and grace in equal measure. Maxine’s vocals navigate the space between the drunken glow of an afterp
